What would you do without your smart phone?

We really on it all the time when we’re at home and on the move and it can be just as useful when we’re off on our travels too. Perhaps you want to stay in touch with those back home, or simply take some photos to document your time there – either way, your smartphone can be highly beneficial.

Here are ten ideas for how to use your smartphone during your trip. Some you probably do every day, but others may be more specific to your travels:

Awareness of your location is especially important when traveling as it’s a completely new area and you don’t want to risk getting lost. Simply put in your destination in your smartphones map application and save yourself the hassle of having to ask someone else for directions.

The camera’s available on smartphones today are truly outstanding, so much so that people are settling to use them over a digital camera. Some smartphones like the LG G5 even have an 8MP wide angle lens, meaning you can get detailed and quality images of your destination. So whether you want to have something to share on social media to your friends, or simply some snapshots to look back on – your smartphone’s camera should definitely be utilized.

Whether you simply browse the internet for what’s available in the area, or download a specialist app such as Yelp to make some discoveries – your smartphone can save you the trouble of wondering what there is to do in your destination, not only that, but you will also be able to find reviews and descriptions of selected places and activities meaning that you can assure it’s perfect for you.

If you are traveling internationally, check with your carrier about any discounted services. Roaming costs are expensive. Fortunately, your carrier can give you advice on how to avoid unexpected charges. When possible, look for apps that work offline just in case you find yourself without cellular coverage and stay searching for WI-FI spots whenever possible to help avoid unnecessary costs.
